Hospitality Training Association’s Privacy Policy
Our clients’ privacy is important to HTA, and as such we abide by the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000. In accordance with the Act, HTA abide by the following principles:
Collection – when collecting information HTA will tell a client:
- who is collecting the information (the organisation)
- how the organisation can be contacted
- the fact that the individual is able to gain access to the information
- the primary purpose for the information being collected
- any other organisations that the information may be disclosed to
- any laws that require the information to be collected
- the consequences for the individual if all or part of the information is not provided
Use and disclosure
HTA will only use or disclose information for the purpose for which it was collected. Wherever possible, consent will be obtained where the use or disclosure of this information differs from the primary purpose. HTA may also use an individuals personal information for purposes related to the primary purpose of collection, such as direct marketing. An individual will always be given the opportunity to ‘opt out’ of receiving direct marketing materials. HTA will not forward or sell an individuals personal information to any other organisation or individual. Data Quality – HTA will take reasonable steps to make sure that the personal information we collect, use or disclose is accurate, complete and up-to-date.
Data Security
HTA will take reasonable steps to protect the personal information it holds from misuses and loss and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. HTA will not retain any of your information for any longer than it is required by us, except to fulfil our legal obligations. We will, with your help, keep your personal information accurate, complete and up to date.
Access and correction
HTA will give an individual access to personal information it holds about that individual on request, unless prevented for a reason as detailed in the Act, and will amend that information if necessary. You can request access to your information by visiting our offices or contacting us on 1800 068 693. A fee may be charged for this service.
Identifiers
HTA will not use or disclose an identifier that has been assigned by a Commonwealth government ‘agency’.
Anonymity
HTA will give individuals the option of entering transactions anonymously where feasible.
Transborder Flow of Data
HTA will not disclose information to people or organisations overseas unless the person concerned provides permission in writing.
Sensitive Information
HTA will not collect sensitive information unless the individual has consented, or it is required by law.
